An electric bicycle refers to a mechatronics personal vehicle that uses a battery as an auxiliary energy source on the basis of an ordinary bicycle, and is equipped with a motor, a controller, a battery, a handlebar and other operating components and a display instrument system.
Data from the 2013 "China Electric Bicycle Industry Innovation Summit Forum" showed that the number of electric bicycles in China exceeded 200 million as of 2013, and the "new national standard" for electric bicycles, which has been in dispute, will also be introduced. The new national standard is expected to set off a big change in the electric bicycle industry.
On January 16, 2018, the revised "E-bike Safety Technical Specifications" national standard submitted for approval by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will be publicly announced on the 16th. On May 16, 2018, the State Administration for Market Supervision and Administration and the National Standardization Administration approved the release of the newly revised "E-Bike Safety Technical Specifications." On August 25, the management of the production license for electric bicycle industrial products was converted to the implementation of the mandatory product certification transition period from August 1, 2018 to April 14, 2019.
From May 1, 2019, "non-standard" electric bicycles that have not applied for a temporary logo are not allowed to drive on the road. From November 1, 2021, only compliant electric bicycles with a number plate can be used on the road. From August 1, 2020, the "E-bike after-sales service specification" will be implemented.
